About this machine.

The Microweily TY series of manual lathes is New Zealands benchmark for quality lathes. They are produced by one of the original Taiwanese machine tool companies, with a history of over 50 years in manufacturing both CNC and high-speed precision conventional lathes. Microweily lathes are a proven choice for precision toolmaking, production, and general engineering applications. Manufactured in Taiwan, trusted worldwide.

The Microweily TY-1860TS is a heavy-duty precision lathe designed for workshops that require both size and strength without sacrificing accuracy. With a robust cast-iron construction, large 18" swing, and 60" distance between centres, it offers generous capacity for a wide range of turning applications. A powerful spindle bore and high-torque motor provide the strength needed for demanding work, while still retaining the smooth, precise operation Microweily lathes are known for.

  • Heavy duty one-piece Meehanite cast base for superior vibration dampening and good resistance to wear.
  • Bedways and cross slide are induction hardened to HRC 52 and precision ground.
  • The slide ways between the saddle and bed are Turcite B coated reducing the friction resistance, providing smoother feel and a more effortless machine operation experience.
  • Fully enclosed 12-speed headstock
  • Hardened and precision ground headstock gears.
  • Precision spindle with 3 precision taper roller spindle bearings to achieve maximum accuracy.
  • D1-6 Camlock type spindle
  • 58mm spindle bore
  • Metric and imperial threading capability via gear driven leadscrew
  • Power feed range. From 0.037mm - 1.04mm (50 settings) on both the longitudinal axis (X) and cross slide (Y)
  • Generous swing with gap bed.
